OMNIA XR – Virtual Machine Training wins Red Dot Award for high design quality.

OMNIA XR, our application for virtual machine training, has won the prestigious Red Dot Award 2023 in the category Digital Solution - Education & E-Learning.
Real machine data is used to create an interactive, immersive training experience that enables virtual learning on the real machine - anytime, anywhere and without disrupting the production process.

Real CAD data - Real training experience
All training is created based on the CAD data of the customer's project. In a realistic VR environment, users always train on the exact replica of the real machine - even before the machine’s arrival. By the time it's installed, everything and everyone is immediately ready to go.

Scalable modularity
A variety of modules have been developed in which users can learn how to handle the machine. In an interactive e-learning experience, the processes can be retraced step by step again and again - at anytime, anywhere. This includes general aseptic behavior principles for machine handling while operating in a cleanroom environment, integration of customer specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and user-specific documentation for continuous professional development.

A true hands-on experience
With a hand-tracking feature we have achieved an intuitive interaction design that eliminates the need for handheld controllers, allowing for natural interactions within the VR environment. This allows hand movements to be simulated on the machine, thereby providing a real, hands-on training experience.

Mustafa Andisha, Director of Development Digitalization & Methods, about the award:
"We are proud to have won the Red Dot Award 2023 in the category Digital Solution - Education & E-Learning. This is a significant milestone and reaffirms not only our commitment to design excellence, but also the groundbreaking innovation that OMNIA XR represents in immersive training in the pharmaceutical industry. We are enabling our customers to embark on a learning journey where users can learn hands-on, evolve and repeat the training anytime, anywhere. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the jury for their outstanding recognition, but also all those involved: this award recognizes the hard work that has gone into the product development of this scalable and modular solution."

General information on the Red Dot Design Award
With around 20,000 entries annually, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the competition breaks down into three disciplines.
Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Design Award has a history spanning more than 60 years. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand for the award. Ever since, the sought-after distinction “Red Dot” has been the internationally revered mark of outstanding design quality. The award winners are presented in the yearbooks, museums and online.
